How the flag quiz works
Every one of the 196 countries in the main map game also appears here as a flag, shown one at a time in a random order. Type the country's full name — the same fuzzy full-name matching from the map game applies, so small typos are forgiven but abbreviations aren't accepted.
Untimed vs Timed
No Timer mode lets you work through the full set at your own pace, which is the better choice the first few times through since some flags (the various Nordic crosses, the several near-identical tricolors) take real practice to tell apart. Timed mode gives you two minutes to get through as many as you can, and rewards speed as much as recall.
Streaks and best score
Your current streak resets on a miss, but your best streak and best score are saved to this browser and shown on the Stats page alongside your map-game personal bests.
Flag quiz FAQ
Do I need to know the exact shade of a flag's colors?
No — only the country name matters. The flags are shown as standard emoji flags, which render slightly differently across devices, but the country you're naming is unambiguous either way.
What happens if two countries have very similar flags?
Type your best guess. If it doesn't match, the correct answer is shown briefly before the next flag loads, so mixing up Romania and Chad (a classic) is a normal part of learning them apart.
Is my progress saved between visits?
Your best score and best streak are saved automatically. The flag order itself reshuffles each time you press Start, so it never repeats the exact same round twice.
