How the capitals quiz works
Each round shows a country name and asks for its capital city, one at a time in a random order, drawn from the same 196-country list used in the main map game. The fuzzy full-name matching from the map game applies here too — minor typos are forgiven, but the full city name is required.
Untimed vs Timed
No Timer mode is the better starting point, since capitals are a much harder recall task than country names — plenty of well-informed players know every country but stumble on a good third of the capitals. Timed mode gives you two minutes to get through as many as possible.

Capitals quiz FAQ
Which city counts as the capital when a country has more than one?
The game uses each country's official seat of government — for example Sri Lanka's administrative capital, Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte, rather than the more commonly known Colombo.
Do accents and spelling variants count?
Minor typos and missing accent marks are forgiven by the same fuzzy matching used throughout the site, so typing "Sao Tome" for São Tomé works fine.
Is this harder than the flag quiz?
Most players find it noticeably harder. Flags are recognizable even when you can't recall a name outright, but capitals require pulling a specific fact from memory with no visual cue.
